Sisi asserts Egypt's keenness to foster ties with Eurasian Union

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received on Monday 15/10/2018 the chief of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Tigran Sarkisian during Sisi’s current visit to Russia, Presidential Spokesman Bassam Radi said.
The EEC runs the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) which includes Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan.
During the meeting, Sisi hailed the relations between Egypt and the EEU members, calling for fostering cooperation in the political, historical, cultural and economic fields.
He also noted the importance of enhancing economic cooperation especially after the infrastructure development in Egypt, citing free trade deals recently signed between Egypt and a number of Arab, African and European countries that will facilitate all procedures for foreign investors willing to invest in Egypt.
The EEC chief hailed the relations with Egypt, wishing to swiftly start negotiations with Egypt concerning a free trade deal.
The volume of trade between Egypt and the members of the EEU has hit around $7 billion, according to Egyptian trade commissioner in Moscow Nasser Hamed.
