Mufti of Egypt Shawki Allam conferred on Tuesday 20/11/2018 with a high-level British delegation led by Lord Ahmad of Wimbledon, the Minister of State for the Commonwealth and United Nations, on means of enhancing religious cooperation between Egypt's Iftaa House and Britain particularly in combating extremism, terrorism and Islamophobia.
Cooperation among world nations in fighting terrorism and extremism has become a necessity as it threatens everyone not just one state or region, Allam said during the meeting.
The Mufti reviewed efforts exerted by the Iftaa House in confronting the extremist intellect and analyzing and correcting wrong Fatwas (religious opinions) released by extremist groups.
Lord Ahmad praised such great efforts and the diverse and creative mechanisms of confronting extremist ideas, saying it is a major experiment that should be benefited from.
