Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli had a meeting on Friday with Dieter Dombrowski, the Vice-President of Brandenburg's Parliament, and Minister for Development and Economic Cooperation Sebastian Sauer on waste management and recycling.
The meeting was attended by the chairman of RKD Recycling Kontor Dual GmbH & Co. KG, Dr. Florian Dühr, and Egyptian Ambassador in Berlin Badr Abdel Aati.
During the meeting, Madbouli stressed that the Egyptian government attached great importance to establish an Integrated Solid Waste Management (ISWM) system.
He also expressed Egypt's keenness on benefiting from the German expertise in this field, particularly in light of Germany's global leader in waste recycling.
Dühr reviewed with Madbouli a study carried out by his company on waste management and recycling system in Egypt, including solid waste produced in the country annually.
He said he is ready to tap the Egyptian market and set up a partnership with the Egyptian company in this domain.
He also suggested to establish a joint venture, benefiting from the German practical experiment in the field of garbage collection and recycling.
Madbouli, for his part, expressed his keenness on working with RKD company, directing to discuss its technical details with the environment and military production ministers during their visit to Germany by the end of January.
According to World Recycling Statistics, Germany has the best recycling rate in the world. Austria comes in second, followed by South Korea and Wales. All four countries manage to recycle between 52% and 56% of their municipal waste.
