Cabinet: 80% of GEM completed at cost of EGP 10 billion

More than 80 percent of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) had been finalized at a cost of EGP 10 billion, the media center of the cabinet said on Saturday 12/01/2019.
According to an info-graphic posted on the cabinet's Facebook page about the projects accomplished in the antiquities sector in 2018, the media center noted that 15 ventures had been inaugurated at a cost of EGP 422 million, topped by the Matariya Obelisk Museum.
The chart shed light on holding six temporary monuments exhibitions abroad, topped by an exhibition of Islamic antiquities in Canada.
About 15 new archaeological discoveries were announced in 2018, the center said, adding that 222 antiquities as well as 21,660 coins were restored.
Rehabilitation of Bab El-Wazir area was also mentioned in the info-graphic.
The center shed light on the US Archaeology Magazine's selection of Saqqara gilded silver mask as one of the top ten archaeological discoveries of 2018.MENA
