Wednesday، 16 January 2019 - 01:11 PM

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry lauded cooperation with the UN Development Program (UNDP) during Egypt's presidency of Group 77+China.
Shoukry gave the remarks during his meeting with UNDP executive director Achim Steiner, currently on a visit to Egypt to attend a ceremony marking Egypt's handover of the presidency to Palestine.
The two sides underlined the importance of pushing forward bilateral cooperation within the coming period, especially as Egypt is going to take over the presidency of the AU next month, Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Hafez said.
Shoukry lauded the UN body's support of all programs carried out by Egypt in the environmental domain, especially its latest efforts to turn Sharm el Sheikh to a Green City.
Shoukry talked about the hoped-for role the program should play to boost development programs in the region to cement regional security and stability.
Talks tackled efforts to reform the UN, garner donors' financial resources to boost sustainable development programs in the region and South-South cooperation.
The UN official said Egypt is a key partner to the program in the Middle East and North Africa area.
He lauded efforts by the Egyptian government in the sustainable development domain.
