Aswan City has won the 2019 UNESCO Learning City Award, according to Governor Ahmed Ibrahim in statements on Sunday 3/2/2019.
The Upper Egyptian city won the award along with Chengdu (China), Heraklion (Greece), Ibadan (Nigeria), Medellín (Colombia), Melitopol (Ukraine), Petaling Jaya (Malaysia), Santiago (Mexico), Seodaemun-gu (Republic of Korea), and Sønderborg (Denmark).
The winners will be handed over the awards during a celebration to be held in Colombia, he said.
Aswan has developed a strategy that integrates a variety of projects, including gardening and water-conservation programs in schools, as well as diverse entrepreneurial training opportunities for all groups of society.
