Led by Sisi, African leaders hold two in-camera sessions

African leaders participating in the 32 African Union summit held today 11/2/2019  two behind-closed-door sessions under the chairmanship of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

In the first session, they are expected to discuss a number of reports submitted by the heads of committees tackling different topics, including developments in Libya, climate change and African preparations for the international negotiations on climate change, education, fighting terrorism and extremism, anti-corruption efforts and healthcare allocations for combating AIDS.

The session will also discuss fighting child marriage, fighting malaria and the food situation in the African countries.

In the second session, the African leaders will approve a number of resolutions drafted by the foreign ministers covering many subjects, including the establishment of the African agency for medicines, the statute of the AU international center for women and girls' education and the AU policy for transitional justice.

The leaders will approve the election of five countries for the AU Peace and Security Council and will set the date of the 33rd AU summit.

The summit will wrap up later in the day by a speech by President Sisi in his capacity as head of the current session of the AU.

Then, Sisi will hold a press conference.
