Sisi: Europe's security gets affected by Arab region

Saturday، 16 February 2019 - 04:00 PM

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi said on Saturday 16/02/2019 that the world has become a very small village in light of the progress it is currently witnessing.

Addressing a session at the Munich Security Conference, Sisi said stability and security in the Arab region is affected by those in European countries, and vice versa. The absence of stability in some Arab countries has had a great impact on Europe’s stability, he added.

Sisi’s remarks came in response to a question about his expectations about the upcoming Arab-European summit, to be held in Egypt’s resort city of Sharm el Sheikh in late February.

The Egyptian president noted that the summit is a key step to develop relations between Europe and the Arab region.

The Arab region is Europe’s first partner, Sisi said, adding that the two sides would discuss cooperation and coordination not only at the economic level, but also in all other fields.

Asked about his view on means of combating extremism and ensuring peaceful coexistence, President Sisi underscored the importance of maintaining international coordination and cooperation in a decisive and comprehensive way to confront terrorism.

He also reiterated the necessity of rectifying religious discourse, warning that the extremist and terrorist ideology has had a great effect on the world’s security and stability.

Meanwhile, Sisi affirmed that he called for globally dealing with modern communications systems and social media websites, which he said help spread terrorist thoughts and recruit extremists.
