Sisi to Macron: Egypt attaches great importance to ties with France

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi said Egypt attaches great importance to its relations with France and looks forward to making use of bilateral coordination and consultation on regional and international issues of common interest.
In a phone call with French President Emmanuel Macron on Saturday 9/3/2019, Sisi highlighted the importance of joint action to face common challenges topped by the crises in the Middle East and Mediterranean regions, Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady said.
Macron congratulated Sisi on the success of the first Arab League-European Union Summit, held in Sharm El Sheikh in February, commending its outcome.
They discussed issues of bilateral cooperation, particularly the cultural relations in terms of the 2019 Egypt-France Cultural Year.
The two leaders mulled also the Libyan crisis, as Sisi affirmed the importance of reaching a UN-backed comprehensive political settlement in Libya.
The French president invited his Egyptian counterpart to attend 45th G7 Summit, set to be held in August in France.
