Sisi & Ivanka Trump discuss women empowerment

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met at Blair House, the presidential guest house, with Ivanka Trump, daughter of adviser to President Donald Trump where they discussed women empowerment issues in light of the White House’s global women’s economic empowerment initiative which is focused on advancing women’s full and free participation in the global economy out of the belief that when women are empowered they spur economic growth and help create stable societies, Presidency Spokesman Bassam Radi said.
The Women’s Global Development and Prosperity Initiative (W-GDP) which is championed by Ivanka Trump and announced by the Trump Administration in early February aims to reach 50 million women across the developing world by 2025 and President Trump has directed the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) to allocate an initial $50 million for the new W-GDP Fund.
The daughter of the US president said she is interested in consulting and coordinating with Egypt regarding the initiative especially in light of its current presidency of the African Union, noting that she intends to travel to Egypt shortly to promote for the W-GDP, Radi said.
President Sisi welcomed Ivanka Trump’s plans to visit Egypt, expressing eagerness for cooperation with the US side as regards the W-GDP and asserting that the Egyptian State prioritizes women issues and the protection and consolidation of women rights, the spokesman also said.
He added that Sisi affirmed the presence of a true political will to empower women in all fields of life, vowing continued efforts by Egypt to build on successes realized in this matter thus far and assist women to achieve their full economic potentials and encourage their increased participation in public life.
For her part Ivanka Trump lauded president Sisi’s efforts in that area and his initiatives to promote the culture of gender equality and non-discrimination and create an enabling environment for women empowerment, the spokesman pointed out.
Sisi is currently on a visit to Washington for talks with Trump on fostering bilateral relations and buttressing the strategic partnership between Egypt and the United States.
