Sisi: Egypt keen on coordination with Portugal

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi stressed on Sunday 14/4/2019 that his country is keen on continuing consultation and boosting cooperation with Portugal.
Sisi’s remarks came during his meeting with visiting Portuguese Minister of National Defense João Gomes Cravinho, presidential spokesman Bassam Radi said.
Asking to convey his greetings to Portugal’s President Marcelo de Sousa, Sisi praised the strong ties between Cairo and Lisbon, citing the latest visits by senior officials from the two countries, including his visit to Portugal in 2016, and de Sousa’s visit to Egypt in April 2018, as well as their get-together in New York on the fringe of the UN General Assembly meetings in September 2018.
Their talks focused on means of reinforcing military cooperation, fighting terrorism and combating illegal immigration.
During the meeting, Sisi expounded the achievements that Egypt made to eradicate terrorism and combat illegal migration, in addition to its hosting of millions of refugees.
The president stressed the importance of handling the regional crises to restore peace and security in Africa and the south Mediterranean region.
