Antiquities, tourism ministries to celebrate World Heritage Day in Luxor
Thursday، 18 April 2019 - 01:17 PM
The ministries of antiquities and tourism will celebrate the World Heritage Day on Thursday in Luxor.
Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli will be present in the celebrations, when the Ministry of Antiquities is set to unveil two archaeological discoveries and the Statue of Ramesses II at Luxor Temple.
The celebrations will be also attended by several ambassadors, UNESCO officials, lawmakers and key officials.
Every year on April 18, the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) celebrates the World Heritage Day, whose establishment was approved by the 22nd UNESCO General Conference in 1983.
The aim of the celebration is to encourage local communities and individuals throughout the world to consider the importance of cultural heritage to their lives, identities and communities, and to promote awareness of its diversity and vulnerability and the efforts required to protect and conserve it.
