Drug dealer killed in shoot-out with security forces

An extremely dangerous criminal was killed in a gunfight with security forces in the desert hinterland of Suez on the Cairo-Suez highway, the Interior Ministry said Friday 10/05/2019.
Two firearms, ammunition, a mobile phone and a night-vision goggle were found with him in addition to around 34 thousand pounds, it added in a statement. Some heroin and cannabis were also found in his possession but nothing was disclosed about their quantity.
The ministry said the man, whose identity was not revealed, was a drug pusher who used to work in the El Sehr Wel Gamal area, a notorious drug den which lies on the boundaries between the governorates of Sharqia and Ismailia, but due to stepped up crackdowns by security forces on the place he relocated his criminal activities to the vicinity of Cairo-Suez highway.
His killing took place during a joint operation targeting drug dealers and junkies by the anti-narcotics department and the security departments of Sharqia, Ismailia and Qalyubia, backed by forces from the central security department, the ministry said.
According to it, he was killed as he tried to escape from the forces on a motorbike after opening fire at them which forced them to return fire.
