FM, Canadian Senate Speaker review bilateral relations, regional developments

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry on Monday 20/5/2019 affirmed the importance of boosting Egyptian-Canadian relations in all aspects, as well as activating mutual visits between the two countries' officials, especially as Canada enjoys international weight in advancing the peace and stability efforts in the region.
Meeting Speaker of the Senate of Canada George Furey, the minister detailed positive developments at the economic, social and security levels in Egypt.
The meeting reviewed ways of boosting bilateral relations, as well as economic and investment cooperation, Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Hafez said in a statement.
The two sides also discussed giant projects implemented by Egypt and promising investment opportunities available for Canadian companies.
Regional issues of common concern were also reviewed, including the Libyan file.
Shoukry briefed Furey on principles that govern Egypt's foreign policy towards these crises, which aim to achieve security and stability and meet the aspirations of the peoples in the region.
The meeting also tackled Egypt's vision to achieve peace, security and stability in the Middle East, including its counter-terrorism efforts.
