Environment Minister participates in 18th session of PERSGA

Minister of Environment Yasmin Fouad participated in the 18th session of the Ministerial Council of the Regional Organization for the Conservation of the Environment of the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden (PERSGA) hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The meeting was aimed at discussing the issues related to protecting the environment of the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden and preserving resources and working on their development. During the meeting, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan handed over the presidency to Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The Ministerial Council stressed the need to activate the declaration of the Red Sea as a special area and adopt the work plan and budget of the Commission for the years 2019 and 2020. The Council also adopted the Regional Action Plan for the Sustainable Management of Scattered Marine Waste, in addition to honoring the winner of the 2018 Environmental Excellence Award.
Egypt is due to host the next meeting of the Ministerial Council.
Minister of Environment Yasmine Fouad stressed the importance of promoting joint cooperation among the participating Arab countries at the regional level in order to preserve the environment and biological diversity.
