4th AAACA meeting concluded in Sharm El Sheikh

The activities of the fourth meeting of the Association of African Anti-Corruption Authorities (AAACA) was concluded on Saturday June 15, 2019 in Sharm El Sheikh as a part of the African Anti-Corruption Forum (AACF).

Addressing the closing ceremony, Chairman of Egypt's Administrative Control Authority Sherif Saif Eddin praised the role of the association, urging to fight corruption in Africa.

Saif Eddin cited the speech of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, current president of the African Union), who called for launching an integrated strategy to combat corruption in Africa in order to achieve sustainable development in the continent.

Director of the AAACA thanked Sisi for warm hospitality, stressing that Egypt has become a hub to fight corruption in Africa.

The recommendations of the meeting included the necessity to provide required financial support to countries to fight corruption effectively, develop mechanisms to get back looted assets and share information among anti-corruption authorities.

On the sidelines of AAACA's activities, Saif Eddin signed MoUs with anti-corruption bodies of a number of African states.

Established in 2011, the AAACA includes 37 countries, with an aim to strengthen international collaboration to fight corruption in line with the African Union Convention on Preventing and Combating Corruption (AU Convention) and the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC).
