Shoukry receives phone call from his French counterpart

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry received a phone call from French Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Yves Le Drian on Sunday evening, June 16, whereby the two ministers stressed the importance of further developing bilateral ties between Egypt and France, and exchanged views on the latest developments in the region.
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Counselor Ahmed Hafez said that during the call, the two ministers discussed bilateral cooperation and means to promote relations in various fields so as to serve the common interests of the two friendly countries.
Hafez added that the call also dealt with regional issues of mutual interest, particularly the current situation in Libya and developments in Sudan. Moreover, Shoukry and Le Drian examined the developments and events witnessed recently in the Gulf region, and affirmed the importance of coordination in order to enhance security and stability in the region.
Concluding his remarks, Hafez said the two officials agreed to continue consultations during the coming period.
