Wednesday، 19 June 2019 - 01:01 PM

Your Excellency President Alexander Lukashenko,

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I would like in the beginning to express my sincere appreciation and gratitude to His Excellency President Alexander Lukashenko and the Republic of Belarus for the warm and generous hospitality. I would also like to express my happiness and gratitude to His Excellency the President for granting me the Order of Friendship of Peoples, as this gesture emphasizes the strength of the distinguished relations between Egypt and Belarus.

The Relations  between our two countries are characterized by diversity in many areas, and have witnessed recently a remarkable development since your visit to Egypt in January 2017, which has been followed by mutual visits by the ministers and officials of our two countries over the past two years; the matter which reflects the level of coordination and cooperation between us on various levels. I wish that my visit to Belarus today, and the fruitful discussions with President Lukashenko, would add further momentum to our bilateral relations.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Today, we held a constructive consultation session, during which we discussed means of strengthening bilateral relations on various levels, exchanged views on issues of common interest and confirmed our desire to deepen and develop the horizons of cooperation between the two countries. We also agreed on the importance of enhancing the cultural dimension and boosting the level of cooperation and coordination between members of parliament in both countries, especially upon the visit of Dr. Ali Abdel-Aal, Speaker of the Egyptian House of Representatives, to Minsk in November 2018, and the formation of the Belarusian-Egyptian Friendship Group.

Our discussions had also tackled aspects of economic cooperation and means on increasing the trade exchange, which does not commensurate with the nature and importance of the political relations between Egypt and Belarus. We agreed on the importance of working towards finalizing the procedures of the formation of the Egyptian-Belarusian Business Council, which will represent a fundamental pillar for enhancing economic relations and Joint investments in several sectors.

The discussions had also reviewed the opportunities of fruitful cooperation in the field of tourism and coordination in the fields of energy and natural gas, especially in view of Egypt's role as a regional energy hub, not to mention taking Belarus's important strategic position as one of the oil transit countries to Europe into consideration.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I would like to express to you, Mr. President, our aspiration to increase cooperation and coordination with Belarus in the coming period, particularly during Egypt's current presidency of the African Union, and the pivotal role of Belarus in the Eurasian Economic Community, especially in light of the ongoing negotiations to sign a free trade agreement between Egypt and the Union in the near future.

On this occasion, I would not like to miss expressing to President Lukashenko my congratulations to Belarus on hosting the second European Games during the period June 21-30, 2019, thus reflecting the great status of Belarus and its people within the European continent.

Finally, I reaffirm the strength of the special friendly relations between our two countries and the importance of continuing dialogue and coordination between the two sides on all levels for reaching wider horizons of cooperation, and intensifying consultations for meeting the common challenges and consolidating stability, peace and development in the world. I would also like to reaffirm my deep appreciation and gratitude for the warm and generous hospitality of your Excellency personally and of the friendly people of Belarus.

Thank You Very Much
