Abdel Dayem:The development of the hall promotes cultural awareness and enriches the knowledge society

Dr. Inas Abdel-Dayem, Minister of Culture, will inaugurate

the main reading hall and the new electronic website for The General Organization of National Library and Documents headed by Dr. Hesham Azmi on Tuesday morning ,9 July 2019.

Abdel-Dayem confirmed that Egyptian cultural events are succeeding on all levels to confirm the leadership of the oldest civilizations of his story.


She added that the book house is one of the oldest national libraries in the world. It includes the treasures of the rare national heritage as a part of the national identity.

The Ministry has completed the largest development and modernization process of the hall since its establishment in 1987, the hall includes all the logistics and electronic tools and number of computers to promote cultural awareness and enrichment of the knowledge of our community, the minister noted that the launch of the website comes to match the technology revolution in the Knowledge and information.

For his part, Dr. Hesham Azmi said that the hall provides its services free of charge, where readers can access the printed books, multimedia and digital versions it is available for 230 beneficiaries.


The content of the library has been updated to include

three main sections: Nobel Group, which includes all the books about the writer Naguib Mahfouz and Dr. Ahmed Zewail along with some of the writings of the recipients of the State Prizes, including Dr. Boutros Ghali, Tawfiq al-Hakim and Ihsan Abdul Qudus, the second section contains the latest versions in various fields of knowledge, the third section contains books dealing with topical issues of interest to the ordinary readers.

The Minister of Culture added that the new web-site has been linked to the Achieve of the book House and it renewed a number of services including electronic procurement of available publications.
