Director of Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA) Moustafa el Feki has hailed as strong relations between Egypt and Greece, noting that both have an extended cultural heritage.
Feki, in a meeting with Theodoros II, the Eastern Orthodox Patriarch of Alexandria and all Africa, in his BA office earlier Thursday July 18, 2019 praised close cooperation between the two sides, particularly where restoring manuscripts is concerned.
The BA has been restoring manuscripts for years now and has already completed 70 percent of the job, which is expected to be finalized by the end of 2020.
Pope Theodoros said Egypt and Greece have deep cultural ties, and lauded the important role played by the BA in repairing manuscripts of the patriarchate, particularly those concerned with theology, history and geography.
He said he was happy to see Greek statues in different place inside the BA.
