The Egyptian-Belarusian Committee is set to kick off its 6th session in Minsk on Tuesday with the participation of a large number of government officials and representatives of the private sector in both countries.

Nasser Hamed, the head of the ECS office in Russia and Belarus, said holding the joint committee talks reflects the Egyptian and Belarusian governments' keenness to boost trade and economic cooperation, according to statement released by the Trade and Industry Ministry on Monday.

The Egyptian-Belarusian relations have been witnessing great progress of late thanks to intensive interactions and exchanged visits between their senior officials which were crowned by a successful visit by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to Belarus in June and the signing of a 2019-2020 roadmap agreement for enhancing cooperation in numerous domains, he also said.

The joint committee session, set to last till Wednesday, will review investment and trade opportunities between the two countries and focus on cooperation in the economic, scientific, and cultural fields, Hamed added.

Regarding trade ties, he pointed out that the volume of trade exchange between the two countries in 2018 increased 10.7 percent to record $108 million compared to $97.5 million in 2017.

As for the Belarusian investments in Egypt, he said that they are represented in 27 projects in the sectors of industry, tourism, constructions, agriculture, communications, and IT.
