20th Ismailia International Festival of Folkloric Arts inaugurated

Dr. Inas Abdel Dayem, Minister of Culture, and Major General Hamdy Othman, Governor of Ismailia, inaugurated the 20th Edition of Ismailia International Festival of Folkloric Arts- organized by The General Organization of Culture Palaces headed by Dr. Ahmed Awwad- in Ismailia International Stadium.
The ceremonies were attended by Rashed Rahmi , head of Suez Canal University, Dr. Ashraf Zaki head of the Academy of Arts, Dr. Heba Youssef, Head of Foreign Cultural Relations Sector, numbers of Ambassadors of the participating countries, Popular and executive leaders in the province and members of the Assembly House.
Abdel Dayem said that the city of Ismailia is one of the charming Egyptian cities that has, throughout the history, many heroic tournaments and achievements.
Ismailia hosts the 20th Edition of its International Festival of Folklore as a global artistic event to preserve the identity, folkloric arts and culture of the participating countries. She confirmed that Egypt is sending a message of peace to the world, encouraging holding dialogue with different nations based on the local human heritage, adding that the festival presents models of cultures that reflect the values and natures of the people of many regions of the world. She also assured the growing global interest in folklore as a means of interpreting the life and culture of nations and it is also an indicator of its future.
For his part, Awwad said that the 20th Edition of Ismailia International Festival of Folkloric Arts will host nine international troupes from: Lebanon, Palestine, Russia, Greece, India, Venezuela, Maldives, Romania and Indonesia, as well as 11 Egyptian troupes belonging to the Culture Palaces Organization: Aswan, Luxor, Sohag, El Arish, Matrouh, Port Said, Ismailia, Sharkia , El Horreya in Alexandria, Nile for Folk Instruments and Traditional Tannoura.
It is worthy of note that this festivity will be held at Al Danafah Club, El Fayrouz Club, Sheikh Zayed Youth Center, El Ghaba Park, Fayed cities, Qantara Garb and Al- Tal Al-Kabir.
The opening ceremony - directed by the artist Hisham Atwa and attended by nearly five thousand spectators – started by presenting a queue of the participating troupes, followed by presenting shows of all the most famous traditional dance for the participating troupes ,concluding with presenting the operetta ”Jaya Tighany.
