House of Representatives Speaker Dr Ali Abdel Aal said on Wednesday 9/10/2019 the political leadership in Egypt has always dealt with the African sisterly nations with an open and genuine heart and has never been greedy or aggressive but rather shoulders responsibility toward all Africans.
Commenting on a statement by Prime Minister Dr Mostafa Madbouli before a House plenary session here on Ethiopia's Renaissance Dam, Abdel Aal reiterated the parliament's support to President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and all the state institutions in managing this crisis.
He asserted that Egypt's national security and future of coming generations are in safe hands and Egypt would never give up its historical rights in the Nile Water. It is a matter of life and existence, he stressed.
Abdel Aal stressed the deeply-rooted relations between Egypt and Ethiopia, which he said date back to the historical eras of Ancient Egypt and cover political, religious and cultural aspects.
"The great River Nile has always been carrying welfare and prosperity for the basin countries," he said, adding that Egypt is always ready to help the Ethiopian people attain desirable development and carry out investment projects.
He made reference to a pledge by Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed during his visit to Cairo in June not to harm Egypt's water rights.
Egypt will never allow any country to endanger its water rights, he said, considering it a matter of life and death.
