President's meetings with officials

September 8: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli to discuss the latest developments of the Dabaa nuclear power plant. The President ordered high security and safety measures to be maintained at all construction phases of the project.

September 8: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi directed the bodies concerned to expand oil and gas exploration plans to make the optimum use of state's natural resources. This came during the President's meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mohamed Shaker and Minister of Finance Mohamed Maait.

September 9: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has directed the government to start the State administrative reform plan based on a comprehensive vision that includes motivating distinguished cadres. This came during a meeting with Prime Minister Dr Mostafa Madbouli and Minister of Planning Dr Hala el Saeed, where the President reviewed developments in implementing the comprehensive reform plan of the state administrative body.

September 16: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi swore in new chairman of the State Council Counselor Mohamed Mahmoud Farag and Prosecutor General Hamada el Sayyed Mohamed Abdel Fattah.

September 17: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi held a meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli, governor of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) Tareq Amer and Finance Minister Mohamed Maait to follow up the economic and fiscal performance indicators for the 2019/2020 fiscal year. President Sisi issued directives to the officials to continue focusing on the human and social development via continuing the processing of reforming and upgrading education and health systems, which he said see unprecedented increase in the sums allocated to them.

September 28: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi ordered speeding up reforms of companies affiliated with the Ministry of Public Business Sector, especially those in the spinning and weaving sector. President Sisi's remarks Were made during his meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli and Minister of Public Business Sector Hisham Tawfiq.

September 28: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi instructed the government to keep up efforts to complete its housing and utilities projects on time and in conformity with the agreed upon quality standards. This came during a meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli and Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Development Asem el Gazzar.

September 29: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi directed officials to work on honing the skills of mosque imams and preachers as well as improving their financial conditions through the Awqaf Ministry’s resources. Sisi’s remarks came during his meeting with Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouli and Awqaf Minister Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa.

September 29: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi directed the government to abide by the deadlines set for the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) project. This came during a meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli, Minister of Antiquities Khaled el Anani, Minister of Tourism Rania el Mashat and Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Development Assem el Gazzar. The meeting took up the implementation of the GEM project, including the final construction phase and preparations for receiving and displaying artifacts at the museum.

September 30: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has stressed the importance of technological universities and technical education. During a meeting with Higher Education Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Sisi stressed that the state gives high priority to pre- and post-university education as part of its efforts to achieve comprehensive development. The meeting tackled efforts exerted to develop the higher education and research systems, particularly the establishment of governmental, international, civil and technological universities.

President Sisi witnesses 8th National Youth Conference

Under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, the eighth national youth conference held at New Cairo’s Al Manara International Conference Center with the participation of 1,600 young people, including Presidential Leadership Program (PLP) members, university students, young politicians, young engineers, young physicians, and young businessmen.

President Sisi delegates Defense Minister to lay wreath at Nasser's tomb (September 28)

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi delegated Defense Minister Mohamed Zaki to lay a wreath at the tomb of late president Gamal Abdel Nasser.

President's meetings with foreign officials

September 3: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received a verbal message from Guinean President Alpha Condé on bilateral relations, coordination on African issues and efforts to fight terrorism. The message was conveyed to President Sisi during a meeting with Guinean Foreign Minister Mamadi Touré.

September 3: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi reiterated his keenness on maintaining consultation with senior officials of international financial institutions to support economic development in Egypt. During a meeting with Chief Executive of the World Bank Kristalina Georgieva, the President said that consultations with international financial institutions are necessary to support Egypt's economic development plans, which he said represent a strategic approach to achieve sustainable economic development.

September 5: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi affirmed appreciation of deep and strong relations binding Egypt and Lebanon at both the official and popular levels. Egypt is keenness on maintaining security and stability in Lebanon, the president asserted while receiving Head of Lebanon's Progressive Socialist Party Walid Jumblatt.

September 10: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received a delegation of the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs in Canda. The President asserted to the Jewish delegation that solving the Palestinian problem would open horizons of development in the region and provide prosperity, progress and security for its peoples.

September 12: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received a message from Djibouti's President Ismaïl Omar Guelleh on boosting bilateral relations. The message was handed over to Sisi by Djibouti's Foreign Minister Mahamoud Ali Youssouf during a meeting attended by Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry.

September 12: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi discussed in a meeting with Director General of Russia's Rosatom Alexei Likhachev ongoing efforts to establish the Dabaa nuclear power plant. President Sisi told the Russian official that Cairo looks forward to continuing cooperation with Moscow to build the nuclear power plant as per the highest safety and security standards to become a new symbol of friendship between Egypt and Russia.

September 16: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received Speaker of the Kuwaiti National Assembly Marzouq al Ghanim. During the meeting, attended by Egyptian House of Representatives Speaker Dr Ali Abdel Aal, Head of the Intelligence Service Abbas Kamel and Kuwait's ambassador in Cairo, President Sisi said Egypt and Kuwait enjoy strong and close relations and Egypt is keen on boosting parliamentary relations with Kuwait.

September 17: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian agreed on rallying joint efforts between Cairo and Paris to settle conditions in Libya in a way that helps eradicate terrorism, preserve the country's resources and national institutions, and limit foreign interference in its affairs. This came during President Sisi's meeting with the French foreign minister in the presence of Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and the French ambassador in Cairo.

September 18: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received Sudanese Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok, asserting that Egypt's support to Sudan's security, stability and its people's choices, adding that Egypt will offer all support as regards accelerating joint development projects such as the electricity grid and railways.

President's Foreign Visits

President Sisi’s visit to Kuwait (August 31 - September 2)

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi arrived in Kuwait for a two-days-visit which witnessed the signing of a number of bilateral cooperation agreements. The visit reflects the special bond of the Egyptian and Kuwaiti people and their solidarity in the face of challenges and threats during the recent years.

The Egyptian President and the Kuwaiti Emir held official talks on boosting the bilateral ties, as well as the latest regional and international developments. He also met with a number of senior Kuwaiti officials.

Egyptian participation in the 74th UNGA session (September 21 - 24)

President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has arrived in New York, where he is set to give a speech during the meeting of the United Nations General Assembly, as the chairman of the African Union this year.

- President Sisi has held, since then, high-level meetings, on the sidelines of the 74th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 47), with a number of presidents and leaders, including a tripartite meeting with Jordanian King Abdullah II and Iraqi President Barham Salih, where they discussed the Palestinian cause.

- President Sisi, King of Jordan Abdullah and the Iraqi President Barham Salih had a tripartite summit, on the sidelines of the UNGA meetings in New York. The three leaders mulled the tripartite cooperation that was launched on March 24, by evaluating the regional meetings during the past six months. The three leaders discussed means to boost strategic, economic and political cooperation between their nations.

- President Sisi said that the successful implementation of Egypt’s economic reform program and its unprecedented positive results were due to “great Egyptians’ strong determination and will, not only as a result of the political will or the efficiency of the program itself.” Sisi’s remarks came during his participation in a banquet hosted by the American Chamber of Commerce in his honor in New York, with the presence of the First Vice President of the American Chamber of Commerce, the Chairman of the American-Egyptian Business Council, and a large number of leaders from major American companies.

- President Sisi met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. Sisi has affirmed Egypt's keenness on the restoration of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and the establishment of their independent state, in accordance with the international accords.Abbas also praised the Egyptian efforts to achieve reconciliation between Palestinian factions, affirming willingness to continue coordination and with Egypt on various issues of mutual concern.

- Also, President Sisi met with President of Sierra Leone Julius Maada Bio.

- President Abdel Fattah El Sisi attended in New York City a dinner hosted by the Business Council for International Understanding (BCIU), a nonpartisan, U.S.-based organization that works to expand international trade and commerce by helping its almost 200 member companies, including many Fortune 500 firms, to engage internationally and by facilitating mutually beneficial relationships between business and government leaders worldwide.

- President Abdel Fattah El Sisi  had a meeting in New York with US President Donald Trump. Trump said his administration seeks to boost cooperation, coordination and strategic consultation with Cairo in the coming period in light of Egypt's pivotal role in the Middle East. Sisi asserted that Egypt is keen to promote and cement the partnership relations with Washington, pointing to the importance of this partnership in boosting peace and stability in the region.

- President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met with Hungarian President János Áder. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. 

- On the sidelines of the 74th UN General Assembly meetings, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met with French President Emmanuel Macron. President Sisi hailed the strength of the Egyptian-French relations.

- President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) annual meetings in New York.

- Addressing the 74th session of the UN General Assembly, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi said that Egypt has a pioneering experience in the societal development and economic reforms, besides countering terrorism, highlighting a role played by Egypt at the UN, the Arab League and the African Union, calling on regional and international institutions to support development in Africa. “Egypt’s right to the Nile River is a matter of life and existence,” he said.

- President Abdel Fattah El sisi met with Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan at the UN headquarters in New York. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly meetings.

- President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez agreed on boosting bilateral cooperation in different fields, notably the fight against terrorism and extremism. The two leaders met on the fringe of the 74th General Assembly of the United Nations in New York.

- President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar at the UN headquarters in New York. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 74th session of of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 74).

- President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met British Prime Minister Boris Johnson at the UN headquarters in New York.

- During a meeting with Lebanese President Michel Aoun on the sidelines of the 74th General Assembly of the United Nations in New York, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi lauded strong relations binding between Egypt and Lebanon at both the official and popular levels.

- President Abdel Fattah El Sisi held trilateral summit talks with his counterparts Ismaïl Omar Guelleh of Djibouti and Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya in New York City on the sidelines of the 74th session of the UN General Assembly. The summit meeting, which came at the behest of both countries in the light of Egypt’s current chairmanship of the African Union and the special relationship that it enjoys with them, aimed at addressing a number of regional issues of concern to Djibouti and Kenya.

- President Abdel Fattah El Sisi held trilateral summit talks with his counterparts President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed of Somalia and Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya in New York City on the sidelines of the 74th session of the UN General Assembly. The summit meeting, which came at the behest of both countries in the light of Egypt’s current chairmanship of the African Union and the special relationship that it enjoys with them, aimed at addressing a number of prickly issues between Somalia and Kenya to make sure that they would not affect the brotherly and good neighborly relations between their peoples. Sisi began the meeting by highlighting the brotherly relationship which Egypt has with the two nations with whom it shares strong historical bonds and important joint interests and urging them both to iron out their differences and preserve their fraternal and cordial relationship.
