US vice president hails strategic relations with Egypt

US Vice President Mike Pence hailed strategic relations with Egypt, saying that Washington looks forward to strengthening its partnership with Cairo in the future.
Meeting Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli, the US vice president pointed to the great progress in the American-Egyptian ties under the two countries' leadership.
Pence told Madbouli that his country is keen on getting acquainted with Egypt's vision on the latest regional developments.
For his part, Madbouli said Egypt considers the US as a key strategic partner and is keen on strengthening cooperation ties with Washington over the coming period.
The prime minister stressed Cairo's strong condemnation of the Turkish incursion into northeastern Syria, warning against the serious consequences of this aggression on the region's stability.
Also, Madbouli noted that Egypt calls for immediately stopping the aggression and withdrawing the Turkish forces from Syria.
The two sides also touched on the deadlock in the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) negotiations, where the Egyptian premier confirmed that the Nile Water represents a matter of life to the Egyptians.
