Saturday، 16 November 2019 - 11:23 AM

Participants at Egypt's 3rd Universal Periodic Review session at the UN Human Rights Council (UNOHR) have positively dealt with the country's human rights report, Minister of of Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Omar Marwan, who headed Cairo's delegation to the session said Friday.

The member states were clearly understanding efforts and achievements made by Egypt to promote and protect human rights in the country over the past five years.

Delivering Egypt's speech before the session, Marwan noted that Cairo realizes that inquires and recommendations offered by the Troika (Senegal, Fiji and the United Kingdom) are consistent with opportunities provided by the universal periodic review mechanism to exchange views, experiences and advice without praise or insult and with a view to supporting the state under review in its human rights efforts.

The Egyptian delegation got informed about the recommendations which were made by the council's member states and will consider and study them well with the Egyptian relevant bodies in light of the available possibilities and the surrounding circumstances, Marwan, who doubles as a Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, pointed out.

The minister added that Egypt would inform the council about its stance towards these recommendations soon.

Egypt is sincere in creating a better life for its people to practice their rights and freedoms in a safe society.
