A mechanism for Bilateral Consultations between the two countries was established in 2006 at the level of Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs from The Egyptian side and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs from .
Three rounds of Bilateral Consultations were held since then, the last one was held in in early February 2010 and was headed by the Egyptian Assistant Minister for Asian Affairs and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Position on violence against Myanmar's Muslims
The Foreign Minister headed on 13/4/2013 to Jeddah to take part in a meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on the conditions of Myanmar's Rohingya Muslim minority.
Recently, the Foreign Ministry has condemned renewed violence against Muslims in Myanmar and expressed deep concern over violence spillover that may be transformed into systematic ethnic and sectarian warfare.
Egypt has called on Myanmar government to respond to the call of the OIC foreign ministers meeting in Djibouti 2012 to allow foreign ministers of the member states to visit Myanmar to assess the humanitarian needs of those affected by the violence and coordinate with the Myanmar authorities to develop a plan for extending this assistance.
