Prime Minister Sherif Ismail presided on Monday 30/5/2016 over a meeting of the economic ministerial committee, with the ministers of planning, supply, international cooperation, trade and industry, finance, public business sector, tourism and investment attending.

During the meeting, Ismail ordered that efforts to control the prices of basic commodities and secure the provision of these commodities at affordable prices would be maintained throughout the year, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.

Cabinet Spokesman Hossam Qaweesh said the orders came upon directives from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

As part of efforts to implement the directives, contracts were forged to import some 800,000 livestock over three years and 65,000 tons of rice within a few days, the spokesman added.
