Sisi asserts importance of social, environmental dimensions of lakes' development

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Tuesday 14/3/2017 reiterated the importance of the social and environmental dimensions of development plans set for communities surrounding lakes nationwide. 

The president made the remarks during a meeting with Prime Minister Sherif Ismail, president's assistant for national projects and former prime minister Ibrahim Mahlab and the ministers of Housing, Environment, Irrigation and Water Resources and Agriculture. Governors of Alexandria, Kafr el Sheikh, Aswan, Port Said, Fayyoum, Beheira and Dakahlia were present. 

The president gave his orders to carry out a study to modify the laws regulating fishing, as well as those related to lakes, in coordination among ministries and governorates concerned. 

The meeting also addressed the current status of every lake and challenges facing development projects, presidential spokesman Alaa Youssef said. 

The ministers briefed the president on the government’s plan to develop lakes and fishery management, the spokesman said.
