President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Wednesday 17/1/2018 approved the law no. 3 of 2018 on the establishment of the Egyptian Space Agency (ESA).

The ESA will be a Cairo-based public organization that will have branches in different parts of Egypt, according to the first article of the law.

Also, the first article states that the agency will be affiliated with the president of the republic, having financial, administrative and technical independence to be able to do its job in a professional way.

The agency will seek to transfer space science and technology, with the aim of developing Cairo abilities with regard to building and launching satellites, which in turn could serve the country’s strategy in achieving development and maintaining the national security, according to the second article of the law.
