Minister: Egypt pays special attention to empowering youths, women

Minister of Planning, Monitoring and Administrative Reform Hala el Saeed stressed Egypt's keenness on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the recommendations of the 2013 Cairo Declaration on Population and Development.
This keenness was reflected via Egypt's participation in the Regional Conference on Population and Development with a high-level delegation to review the efforts exerted to implement these recommendations, she noted.
According to a press release on Thursday 01/11/2018 by the Ministry of Planning, Monitoring and Administrative Reform, the minister stressed that Egypt pays special attention to empowering the youths and women besides providing them with education and training courses in the field of entrepreneurship.
Egypt has submitted two reports to the UN on its achievements with regard to the SDGs over the past two years, Saeed asserted.
Her remarks came on the sidelines of her meeting with the Executive Director of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Natalia Kanem to probe means of promoting cooperation.
The get-together was held on the sidelines of the "The Regional Conference on Population and Development: Five Years after the 2013 Cairo Declaration".
The Minister said that Egypt looks forward to benefiting from the experience of the fund in the field of controlling population growth rates.
Kanem lauded Egypt's pioneering role in the United Nations via its chairmanship of Group of 77 and China besides the African Union (AU), noting that Egypt succeeded in shedding light on localizing SDGs.
