In August 2019, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, at the internal level, met with many officials to follow up the government's plans and improve the investment environment in order to attract more domestic and foreign investments and maximize the return from the process of comprehensive economic reform implemented by Egypt.
At the external level, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi paid an official visit to France to participate in in 45th Group of Seven (G7) Summit, at an invitation from French President Emmanuel Macron, which reflects Egypt's growing position in recent years on the regional and international arenas.
This year’s summit put forwarded a number of topics that would like to agree with the African countries invited to participate in it, especially the "digital transformation" in Africa, and ways to "promote women's entrepreneurship."
The President also participated in the Seventh Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 7) in Yokohama, Japan, which considered one of the most important summits and gatherings that contribute to the development of the African continent. TICAD 7 plays a major role in facilitating and promoting high-level political dialogue between African leaders and development partners on issues related to economic growth, trade and investment, sustainable development, human security, peace and stability.
President Sisi paid an official visit to Kuwait, which he held summit talks with Emir Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmed Al Jabir Al Sabah on boosting the bilateral ties, as well as the latest regional and international developments. The talks also witnessed the signing of a number of bilateral cooperation agreements.
President's meetings with officials
August 4: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has issued directives to officials to continue efforts of shifting from assembling of vehicles to local industrialization in cooperation with world's major companies while taking into consideration modern technical and technological standards in the manufacturing of vehicles, calling for developing the railway system to improve services for citizens.This came during a meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli in the presence of Minister of Military Production Mohamed El Assar, Minister of Transport Kamel El Wazir and head of the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI) Abdel Menem Al Teras.
August 4: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met with the chairman of Bombardier Inc. - a multinational manufacturer of equipment for public transport - in the presence of Prime Minister Mousafa Madbouli and Transport Minister Kamel Wazir. The meeting focused on cooperation between Egypt and Bombardier Inc. to implement a 96-km-long monorail which should connect the New Administrative Capital with Greater Cairo and the 6th of October City.
August 6: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi held a meeting with ministers concerned with following up the activities of Egypt's presidency of the African Union (AU). The President also called for expanding cooperation with African states and building bridges of communications among African peoples, as well as harnessing Egyptian capabilities for developing the mechanisms of joint African action.
August 20: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has directed the authorities concerned to set in motion the working mechanisms of a national fund for honoring victims of terrorist attacks and their families. Sisi gave his directive during a meeting with chairman of the fund's board of directors Maj. Gen. El Said El Ghali.
August 20: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi discussed the latest developments of a national project to improve the educational system as well as the government's preparations for the new school year. This came during a meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli and Minister of Education and Technical Education Tarek Shawki.
August 21: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has called for implementing the health insurance system precisely and successfully with taking into consideration technical, human and medical sides to ensure the good quality of medical services. This came during a meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli, Minister of Finance Mohamed Maait and Minister of Health Hala Zayed.
August 21: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi ordered adopting the latest techniques and international standards in implementing projects and plans of relocating all government bodies to the New Administrative Capital, highlighting the contribution of such a move to the State's digitization project. President Sisi also urged making the New Administrative Capital a developed information hub that links various state institutions and bodies together in accordance with the global state-of-the-art systems. This came during a meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli and Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat.
August 7: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi witnessed the inauguration of the Phosphatic and Compound Fertilizers Complex in Ain Shokhna town in the Suez Governorate on the western shore of the Red Sea's Gulf of Suez.
August 11: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi took a tour of Massa Alamein resort. The President was given a detailed explanation on the parts of the resort.
August 11: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi made an inspection tour by a plane in the greenhouses' project at Mohamed Naguib military base.
August 17: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi opened a number of national projects including 1,300 greenhouses set up on an area of 10,000 feddans as part of the second phase of Mohamed Naguib sector for protected agriculture. The President also inaugurated a factory for packaging the products to be produced by the project in addition to a complex for seed production.
August 18: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi witnessed a celebration on the Science Day which was held at the Al Manara International Conference Center in New Cairo. The President honored a number of scientists, including university professors and researchers, who won various state awards.
During his statement at a celebration on Science Day, President Sisi said that New Egypt attaches great importance to building a healthy citizen and raising his cultural and scientific standards.
President Sisi receives national handball team
August 20: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received Egypt's U 19 handball team who won the World Championship for the first time after defeating Germany 32-28 in the final in Macedonia. The President awarded them the first-class medal of sports, hailing the great achievement they have made.
Official Visits to Egypt
August 5: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei at Itihadiya presidential palace. President Sisi said that the sultan's visit to Egypt gives a strong boost to the bilateral relations in the light of the great understanding between Egypt and Brunei towards various regional and international issues.
President's meetings with foreign officials
August 1: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received White House senior adviser Jared Kushner and asserted that Egypt backs all efforts aimed at reaching a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian cause, in addition to pushing forward endeavors to resume the peace talks between Palestinians and Israel.
August 6: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met with Commander of the Naval Forces Ahmed Khaled and Group Managing Director of Hutchison Ports Holdings Ltd. Eric Ip as well as the group CEO. The meeting witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Egyptian Naval Forces and Hutchison Ports to establish a container handling terminal in Abu Qir Port.
August 22: President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met with Togolese National Assembly speaker Yawa Tzegan in the presence of parliament speaker Ali Abdel Aal and some members of Togolese parliament. The President lauded distinguished relations binding Egypt and Togo, saying Egypt fully supports development efforts in the African country.
President's Foreign Visits
Egypt's participation in 45th G7 Summit (August 25-26, 2019)
President Abdel Fattah El Sisi paid an official visit to France to participate in in 45th Group of Seven (G7) Summit, at an invitation from French President Emmanuel Macron, which reflects Egypt's growing position in recent years on the regional and international arenas.
On the sidelines of the G7 summit, President Sisi met with Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Cont, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, US President Donald Trump, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, and Presidents of Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa and Burkina Faso.
The President also took part in a working session on climate, biological diversity and oceans, where Sisi's word expounded the African continent's viewpoint towards environment and climate change topics.
Egypt's participation in TICAD 7 (August 28-30, 2019)
President Abdel Fattah El Sisi arrived in Yokohama, Japan to participate in the Seventh Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 7), which considered one of the most important summits and gatherings that contribute to the development of the African continent.
- President Abdel Fattah El Sisi held a summit meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe that was attended by official delegations from both Egypt and Japan.
- President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met with the president of The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni.
- President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and UN Secretary General António Guterres addressed the opening session of the 7th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD).
- President Abdel Fattah El Sisi expressed his appreciation of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and the Japanese people for their efforts to set the stage for the TICAD 7. Speaking at the inaugural session of the TICAD, Sisi said he has the pleasure to speak at this event that brings together Africa with one of its strategic partners.
- President Abdel Fattah El Sisi had talks with Japanese Economy, Trade and Industry Minister Hiroshige Seko on investment opportunities in Egypt and means of boosting bilateral cooperation in the economic and trade domains.
- President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe took part in a business forum. Addressing the Japan-Africa Business Forum - a side event of TICAD 7 - Sisi said it focuses on cooperation between the private sectors in Africa and Japan.
