President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Saturday 05/09/2020 directed the government to adopt a holistic approach to rural development by engaging all the state sectors concerned.
Sisi made the directives during a meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli, Planning and Economic Development Minister Hala El Saeed, Finance Minister Mohamed Maait, Local Development Minister Mahmoud Sharaawy and Minister of Social Solidarity Nevine El Kabbaj.
Reviewing the latest developments of a national rural development project, the president underlined the importance of harmonized teamwork involving all the bodies concerned to come up with the best development models, Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady said.
Sisi also called for paying special attention to community awareness programs in pursuance of the state's rural development strategy.
As part of the president-backed "Decent Life" initiative, the project aims to improve citizens' living standards in 1,000 villages nationwide by bringing down poverty incidence and improving infrastructure and public services, especially educational, housing, electricity, drinking water, sanitation and healthcare services.
The meeting also took up the national program to support fishermen and regularize their status by covering them with an adequate social protection umbrella.
Sisi instructed that the program must provide fishermen with personal protective equipment, to be funded by Tahya Misr Fund.
Presidential Adviser for Financial Affairs Mohamed Amin attended the meeting, along with Director of the initiative's unit at the Ministry of Local Development Walaa Gad.
