Egypt wins 2nd place in China's Story Club for Children competition

An 11-year-old Egyptian boy has won the second place globally in an online competition organized by China's Story Club for Children to raise awareness about ways of fighting COVID-19 pandemic, said Culture Minister Enas Abdel Dayem on Friday 18/09/2020.

Abdel Rahman Maher defeated competitors, aged 8-14 years, from around 30 nations, in a new victory for the Egyptian culture, intellectuals and child innovation, the minister said.

Maher was rewarded the prize for submitting a one-minute-video about ways of combating the novel coronavirus, said Supreme Council of Culture Secretary General Hisham Azmy, noting that the video was published by the YouTube channel of the National Center for Culture Child.

According to the website of China Cultural Center in Den Hang, the competition will launch a series of displays online with the aim of building an international communication platform for children, promoting friendly international relations, safeguarding world peace, alongside carrying forward progressive culture and creating a better future.

Th Story Club collected stories, and children's works from (kids 8-14 years old) from all over the world till the end of July.

In its description of the competition, the website invited children to: "Submit a short video online to tell us: How your country is fighting Covid-19; Your hero; Your part in the fight; the cooperation in the fight. Your Story - in Your Language. Meet Children all over the world in cyberspace, build a Global Community of Health for all!"
