National strategy for improving statistical work to be finalized by end of 2020: CAPMAS

Chairman of the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) Khairat Barakat said that the agency has been working for creating a comprehensive framework organizing all aspects of producing statistical data in coordination with international organizations and national statistical bodies.
Barakat made his remarks during a press conference the agency organized Tuesday to mark the third World Statistics Day, which is celebrated around the globe on October 20 every five years to acknowledge the importance of data authenticity and credibility.
This year's edition is themed: “Connecting the world with data we can trust.”
Barakat said that efforts are underway to develop a national strategy for improving statistical work, which is expected to be finalized by the end of 2020.
He underlined the agency's commitment to taking part in all statistical events at the national and international levels to stay updated on the latest statistical developments in order to improve the agency's publications in accordance with international statistical standards.
The first World Statistics Day was celebrated on October 20, 2010 with the theme: “Service, professionalism, integrity: celebrating the many contributions and achievements of official statistics”.
The second day was celebrated under the theme: “Better data, better lives”.
