President Abdel Fattah El Sisi said that he is proudly looking forward to witnessing the relocation of 22 mummies - 18 kings and four queens - from the Egyptian Museum to their new resting place at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC) in Old Cairo.

"I am proudly looking forward to receiving the ancient Egyptian kings and queens after their royal parade from the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square to the new National Museum of Egyptian Civilization," Sisi posted on his official social media accounts on Saturday.

He urged Egyptians and all peoples around the world not to miss out on the opportunity to watch such an historic event.

Amid tight security arrangements, the mummies will be relocated to NMEC in what is called "The Pharaohs' Golden Parade."
