Environment ministry to help Rubiki tanneries embrace eco-friendly systems: Minister

Minister of Environment Yassmin Fouad said that her ministry's is committed to provide the tanning factories in Rubiki city with technical support to adopt an eco-friendly mechanism .
Addressing an expanded meeting with representatives of the ministry's Central Department of Environmental Inspection and Compliance and the Industrial Development Authority on Saturday, Fouad added that the ministry seeks to help these facilities embrace environmentally- friendly technologies for safe disposal of industrial waste.
Foaud instructed the department's officials to work for providing the parties concerned at Rubiki leather tanneries with environmental sanitation technical support.
Specialized working groups will be formed to visit Rubiki Leather City, about 55 km east of Cairo, for on-site environmental reviews at the facilities that submitted their eco-friendly plans.
The meeting discussed the requirements stipulated by the environment law regarding the importance of keeping an environmental status record for each facility, which indicates the facility's environmental impact, as well as the best practices to safely handle and dispose of industrial waste.
