Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Acting Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar met Saturday 02/04/2022 with a delegation of the African Union Commission to discuss the establishment of a headquarters for the African Medicines Agency (AMA) in Egypt.
Egypt is keen to encourage the African governments to increase investment in the pharmaceutical industry, the minister said.
Egypt’s accession to AMA in July 2021 had a major role in unifying laws related to drug circulation, registration and pricing among African countries, he added.
Allocating a headquarters in Egypt will support joint cooperation and increase the effectiveness of the Egyptian pivotal role in the field of the pharmaceutical industry in Africa, Abdel Ghaffar said.
