Meetings of the President with government officials

On Febraury 1, 2022, President Abd El-Fattah El-Sisi met with Prime Minister Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, and Minister of Trade and Industry Nevin Gamea. The meeting addressed "Following up the efforts of the Ministry of Trade and Industry to deepen local industrialization and export development."

Within this framework, the President directed to continue promoting the establishment of industrial complexes throughout the Republic. He also directed to support young investors in medium and small industries, to provide more employment opportunities and to promote the process of deepening local production, by providing easy financing programs to provide the necessary machinery and equipment to investors, in addition to taking into account the competitiveness and potentials of the various governorates.

He also directed to provide all means of support for the development of Egyptian exports to enhance their access to various foreign markets.

On February 2, 2022, President Abd El-Fattah El-Sisi met with Minister of Communications and Information Technology Dr. Amr Talat, Major General Amir Sayed Ahmed, Adviser to the President of the Republic for Urban Planning, Major General Ehab Al-Far, Chairman of the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces, and Major General  Ehab Abdullah, Director of the Engineering Authority Major Projects Department. The meeting dealt with "following up the executive position of a number of national projects in the fields of digitization and information technology".

The President also directed the use of the latest technology and devices in the establishment of various communications and digitization projects, taking into account the established principle of governing all aspects of performance according to the highest standards of quality and sustainability

On February 2, 2022, President Abd El-Fattah El-Sisi met with Major General Amir Sayed Ahmed, advisor to the President of the Republic on urban planning, Major General Ihab Al-Far, head of the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces, and a number of senior officials. The meeting addressed "following up the executive position of a number of projects of the Engineering Authority at the level of the Republic."

In this context, the President was briefed on the progress of work on some construction projects in the new administrative capital, especially People's Square, Parliament, and Exhibition Square, as well as on the interior engineering designs and various artworks of Egypt's Mosque, which is affiliated to Egypt's Islamic Cultural Center, and its halls, and the Holy Quran House.

The meeting also addressed the progress of a number of national construction projects, especially road and axis projects, including the development of the international coastal road from Marsa Matrouh to Salloum, and the development of the Al-Tur -St. Catherine road, as well as the development of the intersection of the Suez Road with the Shinzo Abe axis.

The ongoing development of the Ruwaisat area in Sharm el-Sheikh was also reviewed.  The President directed that the area should continue to be developed in an integrated and comprehensive manner for the benefit of the population.

On Febraury 8, 2022, President Abd El-Fattah El-Sisi met with Prime Minister Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, Dr. Assem Al-Jazzar, and Presidential Advisor for Urban Planning, Major General Amir Sayed Ahmad.

The meeting dealt with "the operational position of the relocation arrangements to the new administrative capital".

In this context, the President was briefed on the executive position of the transfer of ministries and government agencies to the new administrative capital, especially with regard to the developments in the work of the government district with its facilities, and services.

On February 9, 2022, President Abd ElFattah El-Sisi met with Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, and Dr. Muhammad Shaker, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy. "The meeting dealt with the follow-up of the developments of the executive position of the strategic projects of the Ministry of Electricity at the level of the Republic. During the meeting, the President directed to pay due attention to the establishment of the electricity infrastructure for major national projects to accommodate the future increase in electricity loads as a result of the expanding development rates.

The Minister of Electricity reviewed developments in cooperation with international experts in the framework of the national strategy for the generation of green hydrogen energy using renewable energy. He directed to continue the national plans for strengthening the renewable energy component and maximizing its value in order to diversify the sources of energy supply on which the development process in Egypt depends.

The developments of the tripartite electricity interconnection project with Cyprus and Greece, as well as the tripartite interconnection with Iraq and Jordan were also reviewed. Moreover, the interconnection with Saudi Arabia and Libya was reviewed, with the aim of achieving economic mutual benefits throughout the year according to the electricity needs of each side.

On February, 13, 2022. President Abd El-Fattah El-Sisi met with Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, and a number of ministers. The meeting addressed "the government's plan for the bidding program for state-owned companies." The Minister of Finance presented the state's plan for the Program until December 31 of this year, while identifying the companies nominated in this framework to trade their shares in the Egyptian Stock Exchange. The Governor of the Central Bank also reviewed the contribution of the banking sector to the bidding programme in the coming period.

Mr. President has continuously directed the government on the proposal program during the coming period to expand the ownership base on the Egyptian Stock Exchange and attract direct investments, taking into account the diversity of the program to cover various economic sectors.

The Spokesperson added that the President was also briefed on the government's plan regarding the automotive industry, directing to continue working to deepen the national manufacture of electric cars, especially the industries that feed them, in order to keep pace with the global trend in this framework.

On February 24, President El-Sisi met with Prime Minister Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, Minister of transport, Major General Kamel El-Wazeer, and a number of senior officials. The meeting witnessed "the follow-up of the executive position of the state strategy to localize the electric car industry in Egypt." The President has directed to strengthen cooperation with private sector companies to localize the electric automobile industry in Egypt, starting with the assembly stages and leading to integrated industrialization, in line with the growing global trend in this regard.

On February 24, 2022, President Abd El-Fattah El-Sisi met with Major General Amir Sayed Ahmed, advisor to the President of the Republic on urban planning, and a number of senior officials. The meeting addressed "the executive position of a number of projects of the Engineering Authority." Within this framework, efforts to develop roads and axes in West Cairo have been reviewed, whether through the expansion of existing axes or the establishment of new axe. This includes the establishment of a parallel axis to the July 26 axis with a length of 12 km, to integrate with what has been developed in East Cairo, within the framework of working to solve the problem of traffic congestion in Greater Cairo. The President has directed to strengthen efforts to develop and raise the efficiency of roads and traffic axes in various areas in Greater Cairo, in order to facilitate the movement of citizens, and to eliminate traffic congestion and solve the problem of congestion.

On February 27, 2022, President Abd El-Fattah El-Sisi met with Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, mrime Minister, Dr. Ali Al-Musallahi, minister of Supply and Internal Trade, and Major General Ihab Al-Far, chairman of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority. "The meeting focused on "reviewing the situation of strategic food commodities and following up on their availability and their prices, as well as the preparations for the holy month of Ramadan". The President has instructed to maintain the strategic stock of the state of the main food commodities and to follow up their market prices, especially those listed on the ration books. The President was also informed of the Government's preparations to the holy month of Ramadan. The President also directed that all goods should be provided at all outlets at affordable prices for citizens.

President's Field Tours

On February 14, 2022, President Abd El-Fattah El-Sisi inaugurated Egypt's International Petroleum Conference and Exhibition 2022 in its fifth edition, with broad international and local participation of oil and energy ministers, heads of international and local companies, international oil and gas organizations, and petroleum industry experts. The exhibition is the largest and most important international and regional gathering of the oil and gas industry in the North African and Mediterranean regions. "

President Abd El-Fattah El-Sisi made an inspection tour to the headquarters of the Military Academy, where the President followed up the training programs of the students, participating in the students' morning activities. Within the framework of his keenness to communicate directly with the students, an open dialogue took place between the President and the students, addressing the state's efforts at the internal and external levels in order to enhance the current development in Egypt. They also discussed achieving stability in the region in light of the various regional challenges, as well as efforts to enhance bilateral cooperation between Egypt and all countries of the world, particularly at the military level.The President has instructed the students of the Military Academy to continue to maintain their fitness and high physical and mental readiness, and to display the noble military values that have long distinguished the Egyptian Armed Forces. These values include; discipline, commitment and desire to receive science and knowledge to become a role model for other young people.

On February 25, 2022, President Abd El-Fattah El-Sisi inspected the construction of Hasb Allah El-Kafrawy axis, which connects the south of Cairo, Maadi area, with the areas and neighborhoods of east of Cairo and the 5th complex. The President's inspection tour included a number of projects to develop Greater Cairo and its roads, axes and bridges, as well as the "Al Maza Park" project to develop the area of the previous bus terminal station and transform the area into a modern and integrated entertainment destination. The President was keen to stop during the inspection tour to discuss with the workers and officials at the various work sites the details of the ongoing executive steps.

Receiving the President of the Republic of Djibouti

On February 7, 2022, President Abd El-Fattah El-Sisi received at Al-Itehadya Palace President Ismail Omar Guelleh, President of the Republic of Djibouti. The meeting witnessed the holding of individual talks between the two presidents, followed by extensive discussions in the presence of the delegations of the two countries, where the President welcomed the visit of his brother President Guelleh to Egypt, expressing appreciation for the close historical relations, joint cooperation and unity of vision that link the two brotherly countries. Moreover, the president affirmed Egypt's keenness to strengthen relations and strengthen strategic cooperation with Djibouti in various fields, at the level of bilateral relations. The President stressed the importance of developing bilateral cooperation projects between the two sides during the coming period, while overcoming all obstacles in this regard, especially in the sectors of infrastructure, energy, health, aviation, education, and small and medium enterprises.  The president also stressed the importance of increasing intraregional investments and improving the rates of trade between the two countries, in addition to diversifying and strengthening frameworks of joint cooperation in the military and security fields, as well as combating terrorism and extremism. For his part, President Guelleh expressed his country's aspiration to develop bilateral relations with Egypt at various levels, especially at the present time, when the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea region are experiencing successive challenges. This imposes intensified cooperation and coordination with Egypt and its leadership due to the pivotal role that Egypt plays in the entire region in terms of maintaining peace and security. The president also affirmed Egypt's continuous keenness to meet the development needs of his country, praising in this regard the depth of the close historical relations between the two countries, and the Egyptian positions that aim at achieving stability in the Horn of Africa region, which was reflected on the great Egyptian support for Djibouti during the last stage.

The official spokesman added that the meeting touched on the latest regional developments of mutual interest, especially with regard to the files of the Horn of Africa and the security of the Red Sea, as well as the issue of the Renaissance Dam. It was agreed to strengthen coordination and active joint consultation to follow up these developments, in order to strengthen security and regional stability.

At the conclusion of the talks, the two Presidents signed of a number of memorandums of understanding between the two fraternal countries in the areas of political consultation, energy and renewable resources, and the establishment of the Egyptian logistics zone in Djibouti.

Receiving foreign officials

On February 1, 2022, President Abd El-Fattah El-Sisi received Muhammad Jassim Al-Saqr, chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in the presence of Major General Abbas Kamel, Head of General Intelligence, and Mrs. Nevin Jamea, minister of Commerce and Industry.

During the meeting, the President asked to convey his greetings to his brothers Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Amir of the State of Kuwait, and Sheikh Misha'l Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Crown Prince of the State of Kuwait, explaining Egypt's firm position on supporting the security and stability of Kuwait and the entire Gulf region, which is considered part of Egypt's national security. The President also affirmed full support for the promotion of intra-trade and joint investment projects between the two countries in various development fields in order to achieve the common interests of the two countries.

For his part, Al-Saqar conveyed to the President the greetings of his brothers Prince Nawaf Al-Sabah and His Highness Crown Prince Misha'l Al-Sabah, stressing the strength of the relations between the two brotherly countries, and valuing Egypt's pivotal role in the region, which represents a major pillar of security and stability in the Arab world. The meeting witnessed a discussion on ways to support the Egyptian-Kuwaiti Business Council for its important role in increasing communication and interaction between businessmen in the two countries. They also reviewed available investment opportunities, and discussed new joint projects, especially in the fields of infrastructure, clean energy and water desalination, as well as a consensus on the need to continue the periodic convening of the joint committee between the two sides to discuss ways to strengthen economic, investment and commercial relations between the two brotherly countries.

On February 12, 2022, President Abd El-Fattah El-Sisi received Annalena Baerbock, minister for Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany. Mr. Sameh Shoukry, minister for Foreign Affairs, in addition to Ambassador Frank Hartman, German Ambassador in Cairo, attended the meeting.

The President requested that his greetings be conveyed to German Chancellor "Olaf Schultz", stressing the special importance that Egypt attaches to its close relations with Germany, and to enhancing cooperation and mutual interests between the two countries in various fields.

The German Foreign Minister conveyed to the President the greetings of the German Chancellor, stressing her country's pride in its strong and distinguished relations with Egypt, as it is the core of stability in the Middle East and Africa region. 

The meeting discussed a number of files related to bilateral relations, especially at the economic, commercial, investment and military levels. In this regard, the President welcomed the investments of German companies in Egypt, expressing his aspiration to increase these investments, as well as benefiting from German expertise and technology to localize industry in Egypt. In the same context, the German Minister indicated that her country is following up the major development projects throughout the Republic, stressing that this would provide promising and multiple opportunities to maximize German investments in Egypt, especially in the fields of infrastructure, transport, clean and renewable energy, electricity and education.

The meeting also discussed developments related to a number of regional issues of common interest. The meeting also tackled Egypt's preparations to host the United Nations Climate Summit in Sharm el-Sheikh in November of this year.

On February 14, 2022, President Abd El-Fattah El-Sisi received Ernard Loni, CEO of British Petroleum Company (BP), on the sidelines of Egypt Petroleum Show (EGYPS), in the presence of Engineer Tariq Al-Mulla, minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources. The meeting discussed the development of cooperation with BP, which is one of the largest oil producers in Egypt, as well as reviewing the position of the company's existing business and its targeted investment plans during the coming years in the fields of petroleum research and exploration in Egypt. The President welcomed the Chairman of BP, stressing his support for Egypt and welcoming the development of cooperation relations between the two sides in view of the extended history of the company and its precedents of activity in Egypt, which would enhance Egypt's endeavors to become a center for energy circulation in the region. He directed to continue coordination and cooperation with the British company, and to overcome any obstacles that may face its business, with the aim of enhancing the efforts of research, discoveries and production of petroleum in Egypt.  

On February 20, 2022, President El-Sisi received a delegation of heads of Arab councils and parliaments and heads of delegations participating in the Fourth Conference of the Arab Parliament, in the presence of Adel Al-Asoumi, Speaker of the Arab Parliament, Dr. Hanafi Jabali, Speaker of the House of Representatives, and Counselor Abd El-Wahab Abd El-Razek, Speaker of the Senate. The President welcomed the speakers of the Arab parliaments, stressing the importance of strengthening parliamentary communication between the Arab countries during the current stage to exchange experiences and strengthen Arab unity and solidarity.

On February 20, 2022, President El-Sisi received Mr. Marzouk Al-Ghanim, Speaker of the Kuwait National Assembly, in the presence of Dr. Hanafi Al-Jabali, Speaker of the House of Representatives. The President welcomed the Speaker of the Kuwait National Assembly, stressing Egypt's keenness to develop close and distinguished cooperation between the two countries at various levels, including strengthening mutual parliamentary relations in a way that contributes to enhancing cooperation between the two countries at the official and popular levels.

 The meeting included discussions on various aspects of bilateral relations, as well as consultations on developments in the regional arena.

On February 21, 2022, President El-Sisi received John Kerry, the United States Special Envoy for climate. During the meeting, the President expressed his aspiration to continue consultations with the American side on climate change issues in the coming period within the framework of the partnership between Egypt and the United States, and in preparation for the World Climate Summit COP27 to be held in Sharm el-Sheikh next November. The President stressed that Egypt will adopt a comprehensive and neutral approach during its presidency of that Summit.  

For his part, John Kerry expressed his pleasure to meet the President again, stressing the confidence of the American side in Egypt's leadership of the upcoming climate summit, and its keenness to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in this framework, in order to advance international efforts to address climate change. The US envoy also praised the international community for its genuine seriousness towards the work of the international climate and the green transformation, which was reflected in Egypt's efforts at the domestic as well as the international level.  

On February 21, 2022, President Abd El-Fattah El-Sisi received Nicolas Sarkozy, former President of the French Republic, in the presence of Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry. President El-Sisi welcomed the former French President as a guest in Egypt to spend the winter vacation with his family.  For his part, President Sarkozy expressed his honor to meet the President and his gratitude for the warm reception and hospitality that he and his family received during their holiday in Egypt. 

External visits by the President of the Republic

President's visit to China

On February 3, 2022, President El-Sisi went to the People's Republic of China to attend the opening ceremony of the twenty-fourth Winter Olympics, which was held in the Chinese capital, Beijing, on February 4. The President's participation in this huge global sporting event came in response to the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, in light of the close and strategic relations between Egypt and China.

On February 5, 2022, President Abd El-Fattah El-Sisi held, in Beijing's Great People's Hall, a summit talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping. During the meeting, the President affirmed Egypt's keenness to build on the momentum resulting from the regular meetings held between senior officials in Egypt and China, in an effort to reach broader prospects for bilateral cooperation in many areas, especially in the fields of development, economy and commerce.  

The meeting witnessed a discussion on strengthening the existing cooperation between the two countries in a number of areas, including scientific research and technology transfer related to the pharmaceutical industries. They also discussed the manufacture of Corona vaccines, industrial technologies, and how to strengthen cooperation in the fields of communications, information technology, and electric cars, as well as maximizing cooperation and coordination between health care providers in the two countries to transfer Chinese experiences in combating the Corona pandemic.

On February, 5, 2022, President El-Sisi  held side talks in the Chinese capital of Beijing with a number of leaders participating in the opening ceremony of the 24th Winter Olympics. They held talks with Imran Khan, prime minister of Pakistan, President Shaukat Mirzaev, president of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Sheikh Muhammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Than, emir of Qatar, and Antonio Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, on the sidelines of the luncheon hosted by Chinese President Xi Jinping in honor of the heads of state and government participating in the opening ceremony of the 24th Winter Olympics.

President's visit to France

On February 11, 2022, President El-Sisi went to the French city of Brest to participate in the "One Ocean" summit, which comes within the framework of a series of summits on environmental topics organized by the French side within the initiative of President Emmanuel Macron since 2017. The summit focused on topics related to seas and oceans, including the preservation of their vital systems, as well as combating marine pollution of all kinds.

On February 11, 2022, President Abd El-Fattah El-Sisi met, in the French city of Brest, with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and the President confirmed the important position that the European Union enjoys.

For his part, Ursula von der Leyen, valued the distinguished historical relations between the European Union with Egypt, stressing the European side's interest in developing and deepening the traditional partnership with Egypt in the next phase.  

The meeting reviewed various aspects of the relationship between Egypt and the European Union, in terms of its political, economic and development dimensions, as well as the common sectors of cooperation, especially in the field of new and renewable energy.

The meeting also touched upon the issue of coordination between Egypt and the European Union on many important international and regional issues in international forums. Consensus was reached on the importance of maintaining channels of consultation between the two sides regarding these issues to restore stability in the region and provide a better future for its peoples.

On February 11, 2022, President El-Sisi met with the Prime Minister of Tunisia.The President requested to convey his greetings to his brother, President Qais Said, expressing the appreciation Egypt has for the historical ties between the two brotherly countries. He asserted Egypt's steadfast support for the leadership and the government of Tunisia in taking any measures that would preserve the Tunisian state and achieve stability in the country. For her part, the Tunisian Prime Minister conveyed to the President the greetings of the Tunisian President, Qais Said, stressing Tunisia's pride in the strong and extended ties between the two countries at the official and popular levels. He also expressed the Tunisian side's keenness to continue the periodic and intensive consultation and coordination between the two brotherly countries on regional issues of common interest.

The discussions discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries at all levels, especially with regard to facilitating the movement of trade and increasing the volume of investments between them. The talks also witnessed an exchange of views on a number of regional and international issues of common interest, particularly developments in the situation in Libya, where there was agreement to intensify joint coordination in this framework to support all efforts aimed at the stability, unity and territorial integrity of Libya and the preservation of its national institutions.

President Abd El-Fattah El-Sisi met, on February 11, 2022, in the French city of Brest, with the Prime Minister of Norway, Jonas Jahr Stoura. During the meeting, the president expressed his appreciation for the bilateral relations between the two countries, and the development of those relations during the recent period, stressing his aspiration to strengthen bilateral cooperation with the Norwegian side in various fields, as well as coordination and consultation on issues and issues of common interest. For his part, the Prime Minister of Norway stressed his country's keenness to strengthen relations with Egypt, noting the pivotal role of Egypt in maintaining stability in the Middle East and Africa. He asserted that he is looking forward to intensifying bilateral cooperation frameworks between the two countries. The meeting discussed ways to advance relations between the two countries in areas of common interest, especially in the fields of energy and trade, as well as to benefit from Norwegian expertise in projects related to the fields of clean energy and transport.

On February 11, 2022, President Abd El-Fattah El-Sisi met, in Brest, with French President Emmanuel Macron. The meeting tackled a number of topics related to the strategic bilateral relations between Egypt and France, which witnessed a great development in recent years, especially at the economic, commercial, military and security levels. The two presidents also exchanged views and opinions within the framework of intensive consultation between Egypt and France on regional issues of common interest.

The two sides also reviewed ways of cooperation and joint coordination in the framework of Egypt's hosting of the World Climate Summit in Sharm el-Sheikh in November of this year, especially in light of the prominent role of the two countries in the field of environment and climate issues.

President’s Visit to Brussels

President Abd El-Fattah El-Sisi went to the Belgian capital, Brussels, to participate in the sixth session of the African Union-European Union Participation Summit, at the headquarters of the European Union. The African-European Summit was held this year under the title "Africa and Europe: joint vision for 2030".

On February 17, President Abd El-Fattah El-Sisi met with Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, who welcomed the President's visit to the European Union headquarters. She expressed her keenness to communicate regularly with the President in light of Egypt's being an important strategic partner of the European Union. She stressed the Union's keenness to continue to cooperate with Egypt at various levels, as Egypt represents an important  center for the region. For his part, the President welcomed the continued communication with the President of the European Commission, expressing his appreciation for Egyptian-European relations.

On February 17, 2022, President Abd El-Fattah El-Sisi met with Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the Prime Minister of Greece. During the meeting, the President praised the distinguished relations between Egypt and Greece, and the tangible development that bilateral cooperation is witnessing in various fields.  

President’s visit to Kuwait

On February 22, 2022, President Abd El-Fattah El-Sisi went to Kuwait. The visit came within the framework of the special relations between   Egypt and Kuwait.  

President Abd- El-Fattah El-Sisi met with His Highness Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Crown Prince of the State of Kuwait, at Bayan Palace in Kuwait, in the presence of the delegations of the two countries.

President Abd El-Fattah El-Sisi met with Sheikh Sabah al-Khalid al-Hamad al-Sabah, the Kuwaiti Prime Minister. During the meeting, the President expressed appreciation for the close and historical relations between the two brotherly countries at the official and popular levels.
