ICT min inspects 1st phase of City of Knowledge project in new capital

Minister of Communication and Information Technology (MCIT) Amr Talaat on Monday 15/8/2022 paid an inspection tour of the City of Knowledge under construction in the New Administrative Capital.
Being built in conformity with state-of-the-art technological systems, the city is envisioned to serve as an integrated information society that lures global investors and encourages digital innovation.
Inspecting construction activities, the minister followed up the progress made in the project's 1st phase, scheduled for completion during this year.
He was accompanied by CEO of Egypt's Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) Amr Mahfouz, Director of the National Telecommunication Institute (NTI) Iman Ashour, Director of the Information Technology Institute (ITI) Heba Saleh, and Chairman of the the National Academy of Information Technology for Persons with Disabilities (NAID) Abdel-Monem El-Sharkawy, among others.
The 1st phase comprises four buildings, namely an applied innovation and electronic design center, Egypt University of Informatics (EUI), an innovation and technology transfer center, an assistive technology innovation center, an a training hub including the ITI and NTI.
During his inspection tour of Egypt University of Informatics, Talaat attended the signing ceremony of a cooperation protocol between the university and Telecom Egypt, under which the latter will provide financial support to fund 16 scholarships for top high school graduates nationwide.
The ministry also signed a memorandum of understanding with NAID and EUI to empower and integrate persons with disabilities into the higher education system, support scientific research and entrepreneurship in assistive technologies, and promote cooperation in applied scientific research.
During his inspection visit, the minister held an active dialogue with EUI students to listen to their views and proposals, and know their future visions for the university.
Established by the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, in cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Technology, Egypt University of Informatics (EUI) is a non-profit ICT specialized university, located in the Knowledge City, New Administrative Capital.
EUI seeks to provide world-class education and scientific research and be the main source for highly skilled ICT professionals, and to pioneer in distinguished scientific applied research, which would collectively contribute to positioning Egypt as a major leading hub in technology-related areas in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Its faculties cover a wide range of state-of-the-art specialties, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), data engineering, 4th industrial revolution, financial technology, e-marketing, user experience and digital games.
