The Luxor Coordination Center for Knowledge Sharing and Innovation to Promote Resilience in Upper Egypt is located in a city that is home to many success stories in the agricultural industry, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation El Sayed el Quseir said.

These successes include embracing model irrigation systems, solar energy, SMEs, and tomato drying activities aimed at supporting supply chains, Qusier added during a meeting with Assistant Executive Director at the UN World Food Programme (WFP) Manoj Juneja and WFP Country Director in Egypt Praveen Agrawal.

Commending the fruitful cooperation between the agriculture ministry and the UN body, the minister said he looks forward to greater cooperation, making use of Luxor's center which was opened last year to offer specialized training courses for African and Eastern Asian cadres, as part of the country's efforts to boost South-South Cooperation.

Meanwhile, Juneja said it is the WFP's mission to disseminate Egypt's success stories in increasing and improving crop production in other countries.

He revealed his intention to visit Luxor at the minister's invitation to gain first-hand experience of the country's success stories in agricultural industry and the State's efforts to alleviate the burden on smallholder farmers.

Juneja also revealed his willingness to participate in the forthcoming global climate conference expected in November in the Red Sea resort city of Sharm El Sheikh.
