Egypt's participation in the preparatory meeting for the Climate Conference (COP 27) in Kinshasa

Saturday، 01 October 2022 - 12:00 AM

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, the President-designate of the 27th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 27), participated on Sunday 2-10-2022 in the preparatory meeting for the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 27), hosted by the Congolese capital (Kinshasa), in partnership with Egypt, as the country of the Presidency of the Conference.

The meeting comes within the framework of Egypt's efforts to prepare for the substantive aspects of COP 27, as the preparatory meeting is considered the last stop at the ministerial level before the Conference of Parties (COP 27) next November, in Sharm El Sheikh.

The meeting will focus on the main topics addressed during COP27, most notably efforts to reduce emissions, adapt to the negative effects of climate change, climate finance, and losses and damages caused by climate change.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry will participate in the Forum of Countries Vulnerable to Climate Change Consequences, and will hold bilateral meetings with ministers and envoys concerned with climate.

Minister Shoukry will also meet - during his visit to Kinshasa - with a number of Congolese officials to discuss bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries.
