The 9th and 10th meeting of Egypt’s National Dialogue

The National Dialogue Board of Trustees held its ninth and tenth meetings on Monday, October 10, 2022, at the headquarters of the National Training Academy to review details of the meeting held between rapporteurs and their assistants and discuss their proposals for the dialogue’s working plans and schedules in the coming stage.
In the first meeting, the head of the Technical Secretariat of the National Dialogue reviewed the results of the meetings of the rapporteurs, subcommittees and assistant rapporteurs with the Technical Secretariat over the past week, as part of the preparatory meetings for the actual start of the discussion sessions of the National Dialogue.
During the meeting, it was agreed that the board of trustees will be in a permanent session with the public sessions to be held at least three days a week for all three axes of dialogue.
It was also agreed that up to five public sessions on the same axis shall be held in parallel per day, where a day will be dedicated to the political axis, another one to the economic axis, and a third one for the social axis, provided that a maximum of 5 sessions for one topic will be conducted on its allocated day according to the nature of the topics, the number of participants and discussions, and in a way that allows the media and press to cover, transmit and analyze.
In the second meeting, the Board of Trustees of the National Dialogue met with the general rapporteurs, the headquarters of the sub-committees and all the assistant rapporteurs to discuss their proposals regarding the procedures for the conduct of the discussion sessions of the National Dialogue as well as the agendas.
The meetings between the rapporteurs of the general, the rapporteurs of the sub-committees, the assistant rapporteurs and members of the National Dialogue Board of Trustees were positive and effective.
With regard to the relationship of the National Dialogue with the Economic Conference, the Board of Trustees made it clear that it is an integrative relationship, welcoming the invitation of Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, rapporteurs of the economic axis to attend the conference.
The Board of Trustees also commended the national dialogue for receiving the outcomes of the economic conference, to be included for study within the economic axis committees, as the Council will follow closely and pay great attention to the course of the economic conference, to get acquainted with all the data, policies and directions adopted by the government towards what the conference will discuss in terms of economic issues, as well as what It will result in outputs and decisions, in order to put them into consideration in the economic axis and committees of the National Dialogue as they discuss their agendas.
The Board of Trustees of the National Dialogue also decided, after consulting with the rapporteurs of the economic axis and its subcommittees, to address the management of the economic conference with the various economic topics and issues that the National Dialogue will address through its eight economic committees, namely: inflation, high prices, public debt, budget deficit, financial reform, priorities of public investment, State ownership policy, local and foreign private investment, industry, agriculture and food security, social justice, and the Tourism Committee.
