President El-Sisi inaugurated on 12/26/2022 a plant for the production of medical and industrial gas as well as a tri-generation plant in the “Abu Rawash” area in Giza Governorate, at the headquarters of the Nasr Intermediate Chemicals Company in Abu Rawash.

The production capacity of the medical and industrial gas plant is about 2200 cubic meters / hour of oxygen, 900 cubic meters / hour of nitrogen and about 100 cubic meters/ hour of argon gas.

Project objectives:

-      - Contributing to covering the needs of medical oxygen required  for hospitals and medical centers in the local market as well as supporting many productive projects

-       
   - Providing the necessary industrial materials for petroleum products companies, paper and textile industries, and a number of food and pharmaceutical industries.

The importance of the plant’s products from nitrogen and argon gases lies in the fact that these gases are necessary for many production processes, especially in the industrial uses of petroleum product companies.

Medical and industrial gases

The factories produce a range of medical and industrial gases, which are:

- Oxygen is used in the medical field for artificial respiration.

- Oxygen is, also, used as an oxidizing agent in many important industries, and one of the most important sectors in which it enters is the iron and steel industry.

- Medical nitrous oxide is used in anesthesia for surgeries.

- Argon is an inert gas that is used in several industries and is used as an insulating layer of air to protect molten metals from oxidation. It is used in the manufacture of light bulbs.

- Carbon dioxide is used in the medical endoscopes and is used in the food and soft drink industries. In addition, it is used in refrigeration processes for some industries.

- Acetylene is used in cutting and welding of steel.

- Nitrogen is used medically in the operation of orthopedic surgery machines and is used in refrigeration processes for various industries.

Economic return from the project

Establishing of this factory doubled the company's ability to produce medical and industrial gases. The annual production become as follows:

- Around 32 million liters of Oxygen.
- Around 15 million liters of Nitrogen.
- Around 1 million liters of Argon.
- Around 150 tons of Medical nitrous oxide.
- Around 120 thousand cubic meters of Acetylene.
