Shoukry calls on foreign parties not to hijack Libya's political process

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry has called on some foreign parties to stop attempts to exploit the political process in Libya for personal interests.
During a meeting Tuesday with UN special envoy to Libya Abdoulaye Bathily, the foreign minister said all parties should extend support to the Libyans and refrain from bids to hijack the political process in the north African country.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said the two sides discussed the latest developments in Libya and means to push forward the political process in it.
Abu Zeid said the UN envoy appreciated Egypt's efforts to solve the Libyan crisis pointing out that Shoukry posted the UN envoy on the outcome of recent meetings in Cairo on the Libyan crisis.
For his part, Bathily said he advised the Libyans during his meetings with them to show flexibility towards their cause to pave the way for holding presidential and parliamentary elections.
The UN envoy stressed the importance of the exit of foreign fighters and mercenaries from Libya according to the UN Security Council resolutions.
Bathily expressed his keenness on continued coordination with Egypt in light of its pivotal role to achieve stability in Libya.
