The 34th international conference of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs

Under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the activities of the 34th International Conference of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs have been launched, which is held on September 9 and 10, 2023, under the title: “Cyberspace and modern means of religious discourse between rational use and deviance from the path.”

The conference is chaired by Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar Gomaa, Minister of Endowments, representing Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, and in the presence of Dr. Muhammad Abd al-Rahman al-Duwaini, Undersecretary of Al-Azhar al-Sharif, representing His Eminence the Grand Imam, Dr. Ahmed al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar, Adel bin Abd al-Rahman al-Asoumi, President of the Arab Parliament, and Dr. Al-Rahman bin Abdullah Al-Zaid, representing Dr. Muhammad bin Abdul Karim Al-Issa, Secretary-General of the Muslim World League, Dr. Shawqi Allam, Mufti of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Dr. Muhammad Ahmed Muslim Al-Khalayla, Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and Sheikh Hatem Hilmi Al-Bakri, Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs. In Palestine, Ghanem bin Shaheen bin Ghanem Al-Ghanim, Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs in the State of Qatar, Dr. Muhammad Abdel Sattar Al-Sayyid, Minister of Endowments and Religious Affairs in the State of Syria, Dr. Qutb Sano, Secretary-General of the International Islamic Jurisprudence Academy in Jeddah, and Dr. Muhammad Matar Al-Kaabi, President of the General Authority for Islamic Affairs. The Endowments of the United Arab Emirates, and Egypt’s guests include ministers, muftis, ambassadors, scholars, and thinkers from various countries of the world.

The conference includes the following topics:

1- Cyberspace is the necessity of the times.

2- Non-traditional means and their impact on addressing religious discourse.

3- Electronic fatwa.

4- Distance memorization and teaching.

5- Irrational use of cyberspace, and course correction.

6- Irrational use of modern means in the field of advocacy and correcting the course.

Dr. Mohamed Mukhtar Gomaa, Minister of Endowments, on behalf of Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, opened the thirty-fourth international conference of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs.

In his speech at the opening session, Dr. Mohamed Mukhtar Gomaa, Minister of Endowments, welcomed Egypt’s distinguished guests, including ministers, muftis, scholars, and thinkers, conveying to all of them the greetings of His Excellency Dr. Engineer Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, and his wishes for the conference and all attendees with every success. He also extended all thanks and appreciation to His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, for sponsoring this conference.

The fifth scientific session of the Cyberspace and Artificial Intelligence Conference

For the second day in a row of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs conference, the activities of the scientific sessions were resumed through the fifth scientific session, held under the title: "The Academic Vision for Dealing with Cyberspace" headed by Prof. Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar, President of the Arab Academy for Science and Technology.

The Minister of Awqaf’s remarks during the fifth scientific session:

In his comment on the fifth scientific session, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar Gomaa, Minister of Awqaf, confirmed that this session is distinguished, as the first day’s meetings of the 34th international conference of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs dealt with the religious aspect, while the second day's meetings dealt with the technical and technical part, stressing that we must work together and integrate, since in the past there was a gap. He asserted that we were able to a large extent to dissolve this gap, as some religious scholars who did not understand the cultural dimensions viewed others as not being as keen on religion, and thanks to God, we were able, through working with cultural institutions, to dissolve this idea.

He pointed out that for the first time, 180 publications were issued in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, as part of the “Vision” series for enlightened thought, confirming the mutual trust between the two ministries.

The activities of the sixth scientific session were launched under the title: “The Media Vision for Dealing with Cyberspace,” headed by Professor Dr. Sami Muhammad Rabie Al-Sharif, Dean of the Faculty of Information at Modern University and Secretary General of the Association of Islamic Universities.

The activities of the seventh scientific session were launched under the title: "Ethics of Dealing with Cyberspace", headed by Prof. Dr. Bakr Zaki Awad, former Dean of the Faculty of Fundamentals of Religion and member of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs.

The activities of the eighth scientific session were launched under the title: “Artificial Intelligence,” headed by Engineer Ziad Abdel Tawab, Assistant Secretary General of the Council of Ministers for Information Systems.

The activities of the ninth scientific session were launched under the title: “Artificial Intelligence,” headed by Prof. Dr. Youssef Amer, Professor at Al-Azhar University and Chairman of the Religious Committee of the Senate.
