The 14th Cairo International Animation Forum

Dr. Nevine Al-Kilani, Minister of Culture, opened the activities of the fourteenth session of the Cairo International Animated Film Forum, which is organized by the Cultural Development Fund, during the period from 8 to 13 November 2023, at the Hanager Theater in the Cairo Opera House Square.

About 90 foreign and Arab films out of a total of 170 films from various animation film producers from Arab, African and foreign countries participated in this year’s official competition, including: Egypt - the United Arab Emirates - Hong Kong - Algeria - the United Kingdom - India - Argentina - the United States. United States of America - Italy - Azerbaijan - Venezuela - Japan - Belgium - France - Morocco - Brazil - Germany - Netherlands - Cameroon - Saudi Arabia - Norway - Canada - Switzerland - Poland - China - Romania - Portugal - Colombia - Korea - Croatia.

Dr. Nevin Al-Kilani, Minister of Culture, said: “This forum represents one of the serious steps being implemented by the Ministry of Culture to emphasize the role of the arts in improving the taste of societies and achieving constructive communication between different cultures, in a way that supports Egypt’s position and its pivotal role in this regard, as an incubator of arts and creativity in the world.”

The opening included an exhibition of pictures of the animation works participating in the forum, and a presentation of the films that won the first prize in each branch of the competition.

This was followed by the Minister of Culture honoring each of the following: (Artist Samy Rafea - Artist Hossam Mohieb - Artist Salwa Mohamed Aly - Artist Sameh Al-Sharkawy - Artist Mohamed Tantawi) with the forum’s shield and certificates of appreciation, in gratitude and appreciation for their unique contributions to the young field.

The Minister of Culture also handed over prizes for the various competitions of the forum.

The Minister of Culture also announced a grant from the Cultural Development Fund amounting to 50 thousand pounds to produce a short animated film.
