The 3rd Edition of Egypt Defence Expo (EDEX)

Under the patronage of His Excellency, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, the President of The Arab Republic of Egypt and the Supreme Commander of the Egyptian Armed Forces the 3rd edition of Egypt Defence Expo (EDEX) is held on 4-7 December 2023.

The EDEX is organized by the Arabian World Events in cooperation with Egypt's Ministry of Defence and Military Production, and the Arab Organization for Industrialization, every two years based on the vision of the political leadership and the directives of President Al-Sisi to put Egypt on the map of countries organizing arms exhibitions globally.

According to the EDEX official website, the award-winning show is the only defence and security event that covers both Africa and the Middle East and is the largest in Africa.

The event features 22 pavilions showcasing the latest in land, sea, and air military technology from over 400 exhibiting companies from 46 countries.

It is expected to attract 35,000 visitors, including high-level military delegations from over 100 countries.

The exhibition's pavilions will feature defence technology from Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Bulgaria, China, Czechia, Egypt, France, Germany, Greece, India, Italy, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Slovakia, South Korea, Ukraine, UAE, and US.

The Egyptian pavilion will feature the cutting-edge present and future capabilities of the defence ministry.

On display are products covering such sectors as shipbuilding, cyber security, missile systems, unmanned and autonomous systems, parachuting and airdrop, satellite communication, search and rescue, surveillance systems, tactical equipment, training and simulation equipment, and more.

About Egypt Defence Expo (EDEX)

- Purpose: EDEX is a biennial event that showcases the latest technologies and solutions in the defence and security industries.

- Venue: EDEX 2023 takes place at the Egypt International Exhibition Centre (EIEC), a fully equipped and flexible structure of 4 halls that provide over 40,300 m2 of exhibition space.

- Date: EDEX 2023 will take place 4-7 December 2023.

- Participants: EDEX attracts military personnel, government officials, industry professionals, and international delegations. EDEX features a fully-hosted international military VIP Delegation Programme

The second edition of the exhibition was held in 2021, featuring the participation of around 400 companies representing 42 countries.


Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi attended, on Monday 4/12/2023, the inauguration of the third edition of the Egypt Defense Expo (EDEX 2023), taking place from December 4-7 at Egypt International Exhibition Center (EIEC).

Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli and Defense Minister Mohamed Zaki, as well as several ministers and senior state officials, attended the inauguration of the EDEX 2023.

Upon his arrival, President El-Sisi posed for a photo-op amid participants at the 3rd edition of Egypt Defense Expo (EDEX2023).

Speaking at the inauguration of EDEX, Commander of the Egyptian Navy Rear Admiral Ashraf Atwa said the new frigate launching comes as part of directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to give special attention to the manufacturing of naval units inside the Egyptian Navy Arsenal.

Atwa added that three frigates have already been finalized in cooperation with the French side.

He also said that 11 coastal patrol craft vessels were finished, adding that this success is today being resumed with the launching of the Egyptian frigate of "Meko-A200" that has been totally manufactured by Egyptian at Alexandria arsenal.

He pointed out that EDEX attracts military personnel, government officials, industry professionals, and international delegations. EDEX features a fully-hosted international military VIP Delegation Program.

During the inauguration, President El-Sisi also witnessed the launching of the Egyptian frigate “Al-Jabbar” via video conference, on the sidelines of the exhibition.

President El-Sisi inspected the exhibition pavilions, which showcased a variety of technical and tactical specifications, in line with the different requirements of the Armed Forces.

Representatives of Egyptian and international companies specialized in defense industries showcased their advanced equipment, technology and security systems at the exhibition.
