VP of El Ahly Club dies, aged 53

Vice President of El Ahly Club El Amri Farouk has died, aged 53, El-Ahly Club has announced on its official website.

Farouk, former minister of Sports, fainted inside the club in el-Gezira on the 7th of November, and was transferred to a hospital in the 6th of October City, where he suffered a brain hemorrhage, and went into coma that went on for nearly two months.

Born on November 8, 1970, Farouk was appointed as a minister of Sports, in August 2012 to July 2013.

He is a symbol of administrative work in El Ahly Club, and was a member of the club’s board of directors for more than one term, before he was elected Vice President of El Ahly Club in 2021.

Farouk was one of the largest investors in Egypt, especially in the field of education. He had previously received many awards, the most important of which was the Creativity and Excellence Award from the Ministry of Culture in January 2002, and the Best Scientific and University Book Publisher Award in 2000 and 2001.
