After that, Sultan of the Indian Bohra Community Sultan Mufaddal Saifuddin delivered his speech, in which he expressed his gratitude to President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, the wise government and honorable Egyptian people for granting permission to rebuild this sacred shrine of Al-Sayyida Zainab, the daughter of Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib and Sayyida Fatimah Zahra, the daughter of the Prophet Muhammad (May Allah Bless Him and His Family and Grant Him Peace) and sister of Imams Hassan and Hussein.

Sultan Mufaddal Saifuddin said: “Al-Sayyida Zainab holds a significant place in the hearts of Muslims in general, and especially in the hearts of the people of Egypt, as she is the noble descendant of Banu Hashim, a knowledgeable, pious, chaste, and patient woman who sought reward (from Allah).”

He added that Al-Sayyida Zainab chose Egypt as her residence, praising Egypt and its people, saying, “O people of Egypt, you supported us, may Allah support you. You sheltered us; may Allah shelter you. You aided us; may Allah aid you. May Allah provide you with a way out from every calamity and relief from every hardship.”

Saifuddin expressed his profound love for Prophet Muhammad and Ahl Al-Bayt and for all those who love them.

He said: “I ask Allah, by the right of the Messenger of Allah and his noble household, to accept us.”

He also prayed for El-Sisi's good health and well-being and asked for his success during his new presidential term.

He prayed for Egypt's people to have security, stability, peace, and prosperity, and for the protection of the Islamic Ummah from all harm and calamities.

At the end of his speech, the Sultan of the Bohra community in India expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the various state bodies, especially the Egyptian Ministry of Endowments and its strenuous drives under directives of President Sisi to rebuild and revamp mosques.

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi delivered a speech in which he stressed that Egypt has a great plan to develop the mosques of Ahl al-Bayt and the Companions, expressing his appreciation and thanks to Sultan Mufaddal Saifuddin, Sultan of the Bohra community in India, for his participation and contribution to the development of Al-Bayt mosques.

President El-Sisi said Egypt is graced with being chosen as the final resting destination for the Prophet Muhammad's family: “When they searched for a place to settle and take shelter, their destination was Egypt.”

In his speech, El-Sisi unveiled a plan to develop the mosques associated with Ahl Al-Bayt, including renovating the Al-Rifai, Sultan Hassan, and Al-Mawardi mosques soon.

He noted that this step is part of the Egyptian government's plan to revitalize the mausoleums of the Prophet Muhammad's family (Ahl Al-Bayt) and the surrounding areas to restore Historic Cairo.

He added that the Egyptian government envisions transforming the popular Al-Sayeda Zeinab District into a capital for religious tourism by developing tourism infrastructure in the area.

El-Sisi also directed the government to compensate the owners of houses adjacent to the Al-Bayt mosques to complete the development plans.

President El-Sisi and the Sultan of the Bohra community in India dotted the letters “In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful,” and then Sultan Mufaddal gave a memorial gift to President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

About the Renovation Works of Al-Sayyida Zainab Mosque

Al-Sayyida Zainab Mosque is the third mosque to be renovated, after the Al-Hussein and Al-Sayeda Nafisa mosques during the previous two years.

Al-Sayyida Zainab Mosque, one of the country’s most significant pieces of Islamic heritage, was closed for two months for renovations.

It enshrines Al-Sayyida Zainab, the prophet's granddaughter, born to his daughter Fatma and his cousin Imam Ali Ibn Abi Taleb, and draws hundreds of devoted worshippers each day from around the world, particularly Sufis.

Her neo-Mameluke Mosque, built during the Fatimid period houses her shrine and stands in majesty in a populous square in Historic Cairo.

Besides Al-Sayyida Zainab Mosque, the restoration work involved renovating the surrounding squares and streets, incorporating a unified colour scheme to enhance the overall aesthetic.

Upgraded sidewalks, expanded green areas, and a revitalized 4,000-metre Qandil Umm Hashem Park further enhance the visitor experience.

The project also included significant upgrades to Al-Sayyida Zainab Square, creating two new 10-metre traffic lanes in both directions.

Additionally, four modern parking lots were constructed, offering a total capacity of 250 cars.

Open-air electric cars will be provided to transport visitors from the park to other nearby Islamic sites.
